Our streamlined process begins with video creation in Adobe After Effects.
Users then employ the Blings extension to seamlessly render the video into the MP5 format.
The extension facilitates the upload of the composition along with all the included assets such a fonts, sound, image and video files, creating a scene in the Blings Playground editor. From there, video creators can effortlessly link different layers to data using Blings' unique connectors, enabling easy editing, and project publishing.
From creation in After effects to online data Connecting
Effortless User Experience: We aimed to create a seamless flow between video creation and upload, recognizing the back-and-forth nature of the extension between After Effects and the Playground tool for fixes and updates.
Design Goals
Integration with After Effects UI: Designing the extension to align with the After Effects UI in appearance and functionality was key. We opted for a dark-colored teal-graded interface for the Playground and an Adobe semi-look for the extension, establishing a unique brand identity for the Blings.io ecosystem
Playful Playground Interface: The Playground was conceived as a playful space for experimentation with Blings connectors. Recognizing the frequent release of new features and connector types, the dynamic and inviting connector bar was designed to accommodate future expansions.

Our research involved a thorough analysis of After Effects extensions, identifying effective practices and pitfalls.
We utilized digital experience intelligence tools to monitor real-time user interactions, pinpointing areas for improvement.
Continuous collaboration with R&D and product teams focused on streamlining functionality and enhancing the user experience, minimizing clicks and reducing hassle for a seamless Blings.io experience.
In our research phase, we delved into the workflow to determine whether users should manually create scenes in the system. After careful consideration, we opted to connect every scene to a composition. This decision not only enhanced the user's comprehension of their project's structure but also streamlined the rendering process, contributing to a more seamless experience.
Results:
During my tenure at Blings.io, I innovated and perfected the method for instructing and training fellow creators in utilizing our creation flow (watch my very long and bit boring tutorial here).
Through teaching, I gained valuable insights into the improvements needed in the interface, leading to a more intuitive and user-friendly design.
